Presentation of a Well-Deserved Award
The "Legacy Award" was given to St. James Day Care by the Ministry of Children and Families.
The beautiful glass award reads: “Child Care Legacy Award, presented to St. James Daycare in recognition of more than 40 years of outstanding child care with appreciation. Honourable Mary Polak, Minister of Children and Family Development and Minister Responsible for Child Care. May 2010. Creating Brighter Futures for our Children.”
Thank you for the role that St. James Church and now Trinity United Church has played in this award. Someone long ago had the foresight to create a space for child care and it has served the Kitsilano Community well. I know that in the 22 years I have been at St. James Daycare, we have served well over 600 families. Thanks once again.
Leisa Thomson (Senior Supervisor at St. James Daycare)
Rev. Sally went to Washington DC!
If you want to check out these links you will see my trip to Washington DC - Monday, April 26 in discussion with White House Officials to talk about LGBT concerns of aging, poverty and homelessness and Tuesday a Press Conference.
It was a powerful few days and feel very blessed to have been able to bear witness to such an occasion. I didn't meet Obama and our meetings were near the White House but not in it... but it was still awesome!!!
