Social Justice Committee
The Social Justice Committee offers our congregation and friends
a variety of opportunities to act on our faith that all people,
as children of God, have a responsibility to protect and nurture one another. In
choosing its projects, the Committee seeks to maintain a balance
among local, national, and international concerns for human rights, justice, peace,
and an end to poverty and its destructive results. It gives
particular attention to United Church or ecumenical Canadian initiatives.
Witness and support are two common forms of action the Committee
proposes. Witness often involves writing letters to public figures
or providing an identified congregational presence at public events. Support
frequently takes the form of collecting money or goods for specific
purposes.
