Meal Ministry
When: Thursdays 11:45 am (September through June)
Where: Trinity United Church - St. Mark's Anglican (1805
Larch Street, Vancouver)
Since 1999 the Meal Ministry of Trinity United, St. Mark's and
St. George's Anglican Churches (also referred to as the"
Tri-Parish Community Meal Program) have been serving up lunch
on Thursdays to the local community. All are welcome and a hearty
hot meal is served.
Meals are made possible through a partnership with Aunt Leah's
(http://www.auntleahs.org/).
Aunt Leah's is a non-profit organization that offers a "Restaurant
Training Program" which draws from a variety of women who
are wishing to enter or re-enter the job market (some students
have come from the Munroe Transition
House). Aunt Leah's provides the food for
the weekly meal and all other details regarding setup, serving and cleanup are provided by volunteers. The meals are cooked in the lower level of
Trinity United for the Thursday meal as well as other meal programs
for which Aunt Leah's provides food.
Supported by fundraising, this valuable community outreach is
assisted by local contributors Vancity, Terra Breads, and The John Hardy Mitchell Family Foundation. Terra Breads donates all left-over bread
form Wednesday for the meals and for those who wish to take
bread home with them.
The Meal Ministry Committee enthusiastically welcomes new members
as well as support for the weekly meals through attendance,
donations or greeters.
